Reminder: Open House Tonight!

Parents:

Just a quick FYI and reminder that open house is tonight at Salem Middle School from 6:00-7:30. All parents will begin in the gym and then follow their child’s schedule. We had the students write their schedule for you in homeroom today so please ask for it when you see them after school. We also have copies in our classroom if you need them.

We look forward to seeing as many parents as possible this evening!!

Thanks.

Math Update

Welcome to 6-2/3 Math! I will do my best to send and update each week to let you know what is going on in math class and what resources are available to help students outside of class. The first quarter is very similar between my two math classes, the Units covered will be: Decimals, Fractions, Exponents and Order of Operations, Integers and Rational Numbers.

Here math topics for the week:

Monday: Student Orientation
Tuesday: Math class policies and procedures
Wednesday: Long Division, Word Problems
Thursday: Adding and Subtracting Decimals
Friday: Quick check on Long Division and Adding and Subtracting Decimals

The first assessment of the year will be a quiz on this upcoming Tuesday, July 19th. It will cover Long Division and Adding and Subtracting Decimals.

I have created an online resource site for students and parents for each unit we cover in class. Here is a link to the resource site for the unit we are currently covering on Decimal Operations. Feel free to browse through and use any of my resources. For each unit I include all print resources that we use in the classroom, including study guides and enrichment activities. There are also video tutorials covering the same lessons I cover in class with matching student worksheets. The videos are great for struggling math students who need some extra help and practice at home. In addition, there will always be a list of online math games that focus on the concepts and topics we are covering in class. I hope these resources are more than enough to quench your thirst for math practice and help at home.

Thanks, have a great week!
